Rayna Dexter

Rayna Dexter received her B.A. in Theatre from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio, and her M.F.A. from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. In addition to designing costumes for academic theatre, she has designed costumes for companies such as Porthouse Theatre in Kent, OH, Ensemble Theatre in Cleveland, OH, and Patchwork Players and Southern Rep, both in New Orleans, LA.

A member of the Department of Performance Studies faculty at Texas A&M University since 2009, Rayna has taught Costume Design, Costume Technology, Stage Makeup, and History of Western Dress. Most recently she has designed the costumes for Texas A&M's productions The Conduct of Life in Fall 2011, No Exit in Spring 2012, and Lysistrata: A Woman's Translation in Spring 2013. Her research interests include costume history, dress as a form of nonverbal communication, and the relationship of dress to humans as aesthetic and social beings.
